Bad things …

…happen in threes.  I’ve heard this saying before and had the pleasure of experiencing it for myself over the last two weeks.

#1 It all started with our kitchen light.  I could smell something coming from the light ,which happens to be fluorescent, one morning when I turned it on.  Come to find out, the ballast needed to be replaced.  Needless to say, I now know more about fluorescent lights then I did 2 weeks ago.

#2 About a week after the kitchen light incident, I noticed our water was not coming on in the house. When I called my neighbor to see if she had water, she replied with “yes I do, but you have water coming out of your front yard!” After I turned the water off, I was able to see that a piece of the pipe had simply snapped off.  That piece of pipe also had a regulator attached to it. Well, thanks to my wonderful husband and Wes, they were able to replace the pipe and restore water to our house.

I was able to take those two things in stride, but it wasn’t until #3 that I thought I was going to cry my eyes out.

#3 A few days after the pipe situation, I was making Braden his standard breaksfast of frozen waffles.  I pulled out our very chic and cute toaster that Jason and I have had since we’ve been married. It is a Micheal Graves toaster from Target.  Well, it didn’t take long before I realized that my beloved toaster was BROKEN! I stood there in shock thinking, “this can’t be!”  I’m sure I even said, “you’ve got to be kidding me!” I love this toaster because it matches other appliances and because it has a retro feel to it, and I love the color! (see pic below, and you will understand why I love it) I can see where the damage is, and even wondered if I could take it to a repair man. I even asked if it is possible to buy replacement parts.  Jason said no since you could buy a new toaster for under $10.  I even looked on line to see if they make this one anymore.  I have found one, on ebay, for $64!!!! Are you kidding me.  I am more upset over the silly toaster, than I was over the light and pipe. What is wrong with me?

So, tomorrow I am making a trek to Target to see if I can find a toaster worthy of my counter space.  We shall see.
